Riversgold Ltd (ASX:RGL) has snapped up a new 189-square-kilometre tenement application south of Azure Minerals’ Andover lithium discovery in Western Australia’s Pilbara region, bringing the company’s Karratha portfolio to a total of 263 square kilometres.

ELA 46/5072 is an addition to RGL’s recently acquired ELA 47/5069 covering 74 square kilometres.

The new tenement is 16.5 kilometres from Azure’s Andover Lithium Project, which has produced drilling intersections up to 209.4 metres at 1.42% Li20, and 14.5 kilometres south of Raiden Resources’ Andover South lithium target, boasting Li2O rock chip results up to 3.80%.

Exploration work underway

“We now have 263 square kilometres of highly prospective ground in the area surrounding the amazing Andover lithium discovery by Azure,” RGL chairman David Lenigas said.

“Geophysics programs are already underway designed to identify buried pegmatites for surface ground truthing.

“The new lithium discoveries around Andover by Raiden Resources, Sabre Resources and Greentech Metals to the west of Andover shows that the whole area has tremendous potential for further discoveries," Leningas said.

“In addition, the recent discovery of lithium at Wildcat Resources Ltd at Tabba Tabba has shown that substantial lithium drill intercepts can be found in geological environments previously not considered to be prime geological settings for major lithium discoveries.

“We consider that any ground around Andover is highly prospective for lithium unless proven otherwise.”
