QMines Ltd (ASX:QML) has identified visual evidence of copper mineralisation in the first drill hole at the Artillery Road prospect of the flagship Mt Chalmers Copper and Gold Project, making for a promising start to the company’s regional drilling program.
Drill hole ARRC001 intersected 20 metres of strong pyrite-pyrrhotite skarn sulphide mineralisation, with visual copper (chalcopyrite) present from about 113 metres of depth.
The company combined information from an electromagnetic (EM) survey, ground investigations and field reconnaissance to identify the three targets that make up the Artillery Road prospect.
QMines’ ground team found a large 700-metre outcropping gossan at the prospect, which has now been visually confirmed to hold copper mineralisation, as well as a 400-metre by 250-metre zinc in soil anomaly directly beside it.
30 more targets to test
“Wow! What an excellent start to the regional drilling program,” QMines managing director Andrew Sparke said.
“These results confirm that a new discovery has now been made at the Mt Chalmers project. The questions now are: how big could it get and how many more of these are there?
“With over 30 Electromagnetic anomalies still to test, QMines provides shareholders with significant leverage to further copper discoveries.”
Samples from this first drill hole have been sent to the laboratory for formal analysis while QMines will continue drilling its 30-hole reverse circulation (RC) program, with some 30 EM anomalies still to test.
