Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Energy, Chemicals and Food sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 fell 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN), which rose 4.44% or 3.81 points to trade at 89.53 at the close. Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR) added 1.85% or 1.05 points to end at 57.70 and Asseco Poland SA (WA:ACPP) was up 1.60% or 0.87 points to 55.37 in late trade.
Biggest losers included LPP SA (WA:LPPP), which lost 2.53% or 136.35 points to trade at 5263.65 in late trade. mBank (WA:MBK) declined 2.30% or 8.00 points to end at 340.30 and Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) shed 2.24% or 1.48 points to 64.52.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 268 to 263 and 175 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.36% or 0.19 to $53.07 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.32% or 0.18 to hit $56.28 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 1.60% or 18.65 to trade at $1183.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.15% to 4.3627, while USD/PLN fell 1.20% to 4.1155.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.02% at 101.44.
