Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Energy, Banking and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 rose 1.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Energa SA (WA:ENGP), which rose 6.67% or 0.50 points to trade at 8.00 at the close. PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WA:PGE) added 5.52% or 0.49 points to end at 9.36 and Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) was up 5.39% or 0.090 points to 1.760 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP), which lost 2.91% or 2.22 points to trade at 74.18 in late trade. Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) declined 1.85% or 1.86 points to end at 98.47 and Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER) shed 1.83% or 0.85 points to 45.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 219 to 210 and 185 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.92% or 0.64 to $70.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.06% or 0.05 to hit $79.08 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.46% or 5.50 to trade at $1208.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.06% to 4.2867, while USD/PLN fell 0.21% to 3.6685.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 94.08.
