Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Chemicals and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 added 1.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA (WA:PGN), which rose 5.32% or 0.25 points to trade at 4.95 at the close. Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) added 4.04% or 2.39 points to end at 61.50 and Bank Millennium SA (WA:MILP) was up 3.92% or 0.20 points to 5.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Enea SA (WA:ENAE), which lost 2.11% or 0.20 points to trade at 9.30 in late trade. Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) declined 1.12% or 0.030 points to end at 2.650 and CD Projekt SA (WA:CDR) shed 1.12% or 0.54 points to 47.71.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 281 to 274 and 190 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 8.53% or 3.86 to $49.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 8.85% or 4.19 to hit $51.51 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 1.24% or 14.80 to trade at $1176.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.34% to 4.4507, while USD/PLN rose 0.95% to 4.2043.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.65% at 101.64.
