Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Energy, Construction and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 rose 0.26% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Energa SA (WA:ENGP), which rose 6.42% or 0.54 points to trade at 8.95 at the close. Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen SA (WA:PZU) added 3.13% or 0.95 points to end at 31.28 and PKO Bank Polski SA (WA:PKO) was up 2.83% or 0.77 points to 28.02 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which lost 9.44% or 7.46 points to trade at 71.54 in late trade. Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP) declined 3.98% or 2.76 points to end at 66.50 and ING Bank Śląski SA (WA:INGP) shed 2.93% or 4.75 points to 157.25.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 299 to 245 and 181 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.71% or 0.87 to $50.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.37% or 0.74 to hit $53.19 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.79% or 9.25 to trade at $1179.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.36% to 4.4390, while USD/PLN fell 0.72% to 4.1269.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.24% at 100.27.
