Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Media, Energy and Developers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 0.03% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were LPP SA (WA:LPPP), which rose 3.42% or 285.00 points to trade at 8615.00 at the close. OrangePL (WA:OPL) added 2.75% or 0.15 points to end at 5.60 and mBank (WA:MBK) was up 2.58% or 11.80 points to 469.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN), which lost 5.08% or 5.78 points to trade at 107.97 in late trade. CD Projekt SA (WA:CDR) declined 2.31% or 4.50 points to end at 190.15 and Kruk SA (WA:KRU) shed 2.25% or 3.90 points to 169.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 246 to 211 and 176 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 1.10% or 0.58 to $53.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.16% or 0.10 to hit $61.24 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.24% or 3.05 to trade at $1280.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.03% to 4.2880, while USD/PLN rose 0.59% to 3.7891.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 96.227.
