Investing.com – Philippines equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Services, Holding Firms and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Philippines, the PSEi Composite added 1.72% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSEi Composite were Bloomberry Resorts Corp (PS:BLOOM), which rose 7.93% or 0.470 points to trade at 6.400 at the close. Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc (PS:AEV) added 5.27% or 3.900 points to end at 77.950 and Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PS:TEL) was up 2.93% or 60.00 points to 2110.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Philex Mining Corp (PS:PX), which lost 1.18% or 0.100 points to trade at 8.400 in late trade. Ayala Land Inc (PS:ALI) declined 0.26% or 0.100 points to end at 38.700 and Alliance Global Group Inc (PS:AGI) gained 0.13% or 0.020 points to 15.200.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 122 to 64 and 49 ended unchanged on the Philippines Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.45% or 5.90 to $1323.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.21% or 0.58 to hit $48.43 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.02% or 0.50 to trade at $49.76 a barrel.
CNY/PHP was down 0.39% to 7.0654, while USD/PHP fell 0.34% to 46.994.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 96.11.
