Investing.com – Philippines equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Holding Firms, Industrials and Banking & Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Philippines, the PSEi Composite rose 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSEi Composite were Globe Telecom Inc (PS:GLO), which rose 3.00% or 48.00 points to trade at 1648.00 at the close. Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc (PS:AEV) added 2.74% or 1.450 points to end at 54.450 and Megaworld Corp (PS:MEG) was up 2.33% or 0.100 points to 4.400 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PLDT Inc (PS:TEL), which lost 2.08% or 27.00 points to trade at 1268.00 in late trade. Energy Development Corp (PS:EDC) declined 1.91% or 0.100 points to end at 5.130 and LT Group Inc (PS:LTG) shed 1.21% or 0.220 points to 17.960.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 96 to 88 and 49 ended unchanged on the Philippines Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.31% or 3.80 to $1245.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.78% or 0.58 to hit $74.52 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.38% or 0.29 to trade at $77.59 a barrel.
CNY/PHP was down 0.18% to 8.0080, while USD/PHP fell 0.08% to 53.397.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 94.39.
