Peninsula Energy Ltd (ASX:PEN, OTCQB:PENMF) has appointed uranium In Situ Recovery (ISR) expert Frederic Guerin to the position of chief operating officer (COO) and senior vice president (SVP) of geology starting on November 25, 2024.
This appointment by Peninsula and its wholly owned US subsidiary Strata Energy Inc comes at an important time for the company, as it prepares for the restart of uranium production at the flagship, 100%-owned Lance Projects in Wyoming, United States.
Deep technical knowledge
Guerin brings a deep technical knowledge of the uranium ISR industry following 30 years of international management experience in the uranium industry.
He has held key roles in Canada, France, Mongolia and Uzbekistan, including overseeing the development of new low-pH ISR projects.
Responsibilities
Reporting to Peninsula’s managing director and chief executive officer Wayne Heili, Guerin will be based in Wyoming and will be responsible for the overall planning, execution and control of all mining and processing operations for the company.
He will also be responsible for ensuring that the company’s operations deliver on time performance, within budget and to the highest safety and environmental standards.
An ideal fit
MD and CEO Wayne Heili said: “Frederic’s comprehensive knowledge of low pH ISR operations and track record of successfully developing international uranium projects makes him an ideal fit for the position of chief operating officer and senior vice president of geology.
"We look forward to working with Frederic as Peninsula moves towards the near-term restart of the Lance Projects production operations.”
Guerin holds a MSc and PhD and has a distinguished academic background in geology/hydrogeology. He is a registered Professional Geoscientist in Canada and holds a PMP designation from the Project Management Institute.
Ralph Knode responsibilities
Strata Energy Inc chief executive officer Ralph Knode will continue in his role whilst the new appointee familiarises himself with the company’s operations.
In the future, Knode is expected to transition into a senior role which reports to Peninsula’s MD and focuses on maintaining good relations with the local and national communities in which the company operates.
This would include continuing to make Knode’s extensive industry experience available to the board of Peninsula, to Guerin and to all of the company’s operating personnel.
