Pantoro Ltd (ASX:PNR) has leveraged an exploration drilling program to definitively identify the presence of a high-grade gold lode in the Mainfield South reef system of the Norseman Gold Project in Western Australia.
The company targeted previously untested northwest (NW) trending structures in the Mainfield South area, remnant ore blocks on the Mararoa Reef known as Butterfly South and the Royal Standard Reef.
PNR confirmed high-grade gold in three of said structures, with a strike length of 150 metres and mineralisation down to 417 metres below surface in one of the lodes.
Mineralisation remains open in all directions for the three structures, meaning more exploration may be warranted.
Several potential new orebodies
“Mineralisation identified proximal to the historic Viking decline is shaping up with potential for an additional high-grade underground mine once sufficient drilling has been completed,” Pantoro managing director Paul Cmrlec said.
“Work by Pantoro to date has identified high-grade mineralisation on the Mararoa Reef, the Royal Standard Reef and new northwest trending structures detailed in this announcement.
“With several potential orebodies that could be accessed from the single decline position the area has potential to be an important high-grade ore source in the coming years.”
Results returned from the NW structures include:
- 6 metres at 31.0 g/t gold, including 2 metres at 81.50 g/t from 54 metres;
- 2 metres at 20.66 g/t from 125 metres;
- 0.64 metres at 91.62 g/t from 206.86 metres;
- 5.0 metres at 5.67 g/t from 39 metres;
- 2.0 metres at 6.96 g/t from 223 metres;
- 1-metre at 58.60 g/t from 120 metres; and,
- 2.0 metres at 12.43 g/t from 86 metres.
- 1.63 metres at 11.4 g/t gold from 297.6 metres;
- 2.0 metres at 11.69 g/t from 284 metres; and
- 0.63 metres at 16.2 g/t from 183.82 metres.
Historically, the Mainfield reefs have produced about 3 million ounces with grades above 11 g/t gold.
