According to an NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) blog post on Monday, the company's CEO Jensen Huang said Friday during a conversation with Oregon State University President Jayathi Murthy that "AI is tech's "greatest contribution to social elevation."
Huang reportedly said he believes that artificial intelligence promises to bring the full benefits of the digital revolution to billions across the globe.
Huang told more than 2,000 faculty, students, and staff in his conversation with Murthy: " "I believe that artificial intelligence is the technology industry's single greatest contribution to social elevation, to lift all of the people that have historically been left behind."
At the forum, a ceremony celebrated the start of construction for a new research building. The building will be named after Huang and his wife Lori, who both graduated from Oregon State.
Huang mentioned that knowing a programming language, such as C++, has led to more job opportunities and that because programming is so hard, the number of people who have benefitted from it has been limited.
However, he believes AI unlocks that, as you "essentially have a collaborator with you at all times, essentially have a tutor at all times."
Huang added, "I think the ability for AI to elevate all of the people left behind is quite extraordinary.”
