Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Dangflour (LAGOS:DANGFLO), which rose 4.00% or 0.13 points to trade at 3.39 at the close. Meanwhile, Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) added 0.62% or 0.15 points to end at 24.25 and Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 865.11 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which fell 4.23% or 1.46 points to trade at 33.00 at the close. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) declined 2.99% or 0.11 points to end at 3.56 and Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB) was down 2.59% or 3.50 points to 130.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 29 to 15 and 48 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 2.05% or 0.90 to $44.77 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 3.11% or 1.53 to hit $50.77 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.14% or 12.50 to trade at $1106.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.12% to 217.260, while USD/NGN fell 0.10% to 198.720.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 97.36.
