Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 1.07% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which rose 8.97% or 0.07 points to trade at 0.85 at the close. Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) added 6.85% or 0.050 points to end at 0.780 and Tiger Branded Consumer Goods PLC (LAGOS:TIGERBRD) was up 2.08% or 0.08 points to 3.93 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which lost 8.62% or 0.150 points to trade at 1.590 in late trade. Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) declined 5.00% or 0.71 points to end at 13.49 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) shed 4.56% or 0.31 points to 6.49.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 34 to 6 and 50 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.40% or 0.64 to $45.11 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.17% or 0.55 to hit $46.62 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.78% or 10.35 to trade at $1329.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 1.31% to 328.530, while USD/NGN rose 0.51% to 295.500.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 97.06.
