Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Insurance and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.93% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which rose 9.84% or 0.060 points to trade at 0.670 at the close. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) added 4.44% or 0.60 points to end at 14.10 and Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) was up 3.33% or 0.020 points to 0.590 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which lost 10.00% or 2.30 points to trade at 20.70 in late trade. Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) declined 5.88% or 2.75 points to end at 44.05 and Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) shed 5.48% or 81.00 points to 1398.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 63 to 25 and 15 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 2.39% or 1.68 to $68.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 1.81% or 1.44 to hit $78.30 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.17% or 2.00 to trade at $1208.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.48% to 422.960, while USD/NGN rose 0.42% to 362.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 94.56.
