Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Insurance and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.84% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which rose 5.00% or 2.00 points to trade at 42.00 at the close. Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) added 4.97% or 1.95 points to end at 41.20 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) was up 0.84% or 0.010 points to 1.200 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE), which lost 4.94% or 59.80 points to trade at 1149.51 in late trade. Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) declined 3.79% or 2.01 points to end at 50.77 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) shed 3.51% or 0.020 points to 0.550.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 42 to 24 and 20 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.48% or 0.23 to $48.30 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.82% or 0.44 to hit $54.28 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.26% or 3.46 to trade at $1332.24 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.98% to 427.590, while USD/NGN rose 0.84% to 358.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 91.90.
