Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Insurance and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR), which rose 0.94% or 0.15 points to trade at 16.15 at the close. Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) added 0.21% or 0.10 points to end at 47.70 and Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) was up 0.19% or 0.10 points to 52.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which lost 8.93% or 0.100 points to trade at 1.020 in late trade. Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) declined 5.00% or 72.20 points to end at 1372.80 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) shed 4.83% or 0.140 points to 2.760.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 49 to 33 and 16 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 1.42% or 0.88 to $60.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 1.13% or 0.74 to hit $64.77 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.40% or 5.30 to trade at $1319.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.94% to 441.010, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 360.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 90.27.
