Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Insurance, Banking and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which rose 6.43% or 0.90 points to trade at 14.90 at the close. Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB) added 3.00% or 3.00 points to end at 103.90 and Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL) was up 2.05% or 4.00 points to 199.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which lost 6.40% or 0.080 points to trade at 1.170 in late trade. Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) declined 4.92% or 0.65 points to end at 12.55 and Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) shed 4.44% or 0.40 points to 8.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 57 to 35 and 11 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.07% or 0.74 to $68.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.57% or 0.42 to hit $73.03 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.46% or 5.60 to trade at $1225.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.78% to 417.450, while USD/NGN rose 0.21% to 360.750.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 94.85.
