Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.76% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which rose 9.52% or 0.060 points to trade at 0.690 at the close. Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) added 5.65% or 2.30 points to end at 43.00 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) was up 4.61% or 1.01 points to 22.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG), which lost 3.95% or 0.38 points to trade at 9.23 in late trade. Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) declined 2.71% or 1.49 points to end at 53.50 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) shed 2.11% or 0.030 points to 1.390.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 44 to 40 and 22 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.54% or 0.24 to $44.49 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.19% or 0.09 to hit $46.91 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 1.59% or 20.35 to trade at $1255.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.41% to 351.240, while USD/NGN fell 0.15% to 324.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.59% at 97.48.
