Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which rose 5.00% or 3.00 points to trade at 63.00 at the close. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 2.42% or 0.030 points to end at 1.280 and Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) was up 2.25% or 0.11 points to 5.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which lost 3.35% or 0.72 points to trade at 20.78 in late trade. Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) declined 0.59% or 0.10 points to end at 16.90 and Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) shed 0.02% or 0.01 points to 49.99.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 42 to 35 and 30 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.15% or 0.52 to $45.56 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.78% or 0.37 to hit $47.89 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.39% or 4.73 to trade at $1219.43 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.35% to 360.490, while USD/NGN fell 9.94% to 314.750.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 95.49.
