Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Insurance, Banking and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to trade at 34.65 at the close. Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) added 4.98% or 0.66 points to end at 13.88 and Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) was up 4.96% or 1.11 points to 23.47 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which lost 5.00% or 0.04 points to trade at 0.76 in late trade. Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB) declined 4.46% or 6.54 points to end at 139.69 and Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) shed 2.60% or 0.020 points to 0.750.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 24 to 23 and 38 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 2.52% or 1.08 to $41.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 2.85% or 1.29 to hit $43.94 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.44% or 5.90 to trade at $1334.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 1.37% to 346.590, while USD/NGN rose 4.08% to 312.500.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 97.28.
