Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Insurance and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB), which rose 2.50% or 0.03 points to trade at 1.23 at the close. Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) added 1.67% or 0.41 points to end at 25.00 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) was up 1.01% or 0.010 points to 0.990 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN), which lost 4.29% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.670 in late trade. Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) declined 2.94% or 0.02 points to end at 0.66 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) shed 2.70% or 0.030 points to 1.080.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 22 to 17 and 43 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.13% or 0.06 to $46.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.75% or 0.37 to hit $49.60 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.55% or 7.45 to trade at $1349.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.07% to 355.260, while USD/NGN fell 3.16% to 321.500.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 94.90.
