Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Insurance and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which rose 4.95% or 1.60 points to trade at 33.90 at the close. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) added 4.29% or 0.60 points to end at 13.70 and Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) was up 1.97% or 0.060 points to 3.110 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT), which lost 4.94% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.770 in late trade. Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 39.90 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) shed 0.16% or 0.01 points to 6.18.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 16 to 12 and 69 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.50% or 0.24 to $47.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $50.91 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.44% or 5.45 to trade at $1253.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.63% to 342.260, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 317.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.60% at 98.99.
