Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB), which rose 3.49% or 0.03 points to trade at 0.90 at the close. Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) added 4.36% or 0.62 points to end at 14.83 and Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) was up 4.21% or 0.15 points to 3.71 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN), which lost 4.99% or 0.24 points to trade at 4.57 in late trade. Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) declined 4.44% or 30.00 points to end at 650.00 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) shed 3.85% or 0.05 points to 1.25.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 19 to 17 and 57 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.07% or 0.45 to $41.72 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 1.21% or 0.54 to hit $44.15 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.98% or 12.30 to trade at $1248.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.98% to 224.890, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 199.050.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.76% at 94.73.
