Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 1.28% to hit a new 3-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR), which rose 10.00% or 1.47 points to trade at 16.17 at the close. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 6.57% or 0.130 points to end at 2.110 and Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) was up 4.90% or 0.470 points to 10.070 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE), which lost 3.33% or 50.00 points to trade at 1450.00 in late trade. Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN) declined 2.60% or 0.20 points to end at 7.50 and Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) shed 0.20% or 0.10 points to 49.90.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 58 to 13 and 22 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.51% or 0.93 to $62.66 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.11% or 0.75 to hit $68.53 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.69% or 9.10 to trade at $1311.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.20% to 430.020, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 360.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 92.31.
