Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Insurance and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 0.95%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which rose 10.23% or 8.94 points to trade at 90.00 at the close. Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) added 4.99% or 1.90 points to end at 39.95 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) was up 3.88% or 1.49 points to 39.28 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which lost 4.76% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.600 in late trade. Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) declined 4.32% or 0.260 points to end at 5.800 and Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) shed 1.96% or 0.010 points to 0.500.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 38 to 34 and 13 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.14% or 0.07 to $49.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.15% or 0.08 to hit $54.28 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.80% or 10.75 to trade at $1349.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.58% to 430.720, while USD/NGN fell 0.42% to 359.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.57% at 91.68.
