Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Insurance, Banking and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.63% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT), which rose 9.94% or 0.180 points to trade at 1.990 at the close. Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) added 4.46% or 1.79 points to end at 41.89 and Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) was up 3.55% or 0.60 points to 16.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which lost 2.07% or 0.47 points to trade at 22.35 in late trade. Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) declined 2.00% or 1.00 points to end at 48.50 and Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL) shed 1.28% or 2.95 points to 227.05.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 44 to 24 and 22 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.48% or 0.86 to $57.13 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.44% or 0.91 to hit $62.33 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.89% or 11.50 to trade at $1283.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.37% to 426.330, while USD/NGN rose 0.14% to 360.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 93.16.
