Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which rose 10.24% or 8.12 points to trade at 87.39 at the close. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 4.42% or 0.050 points to end at 1.180 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) was up 2.86% or 0.66 points to 23.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which lost 4.98% or 1.36 points to trade at 25.94 in late trade. Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) declined 2.48% or 1.34 points to end at 52.10 and Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) shed 1.96% or 0.010 points to 0.500.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 50 to 28 and 18 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.03% or 0.50 to $49.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.16% or 0.62 to hit $54.00 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.45% or 6.11 to trade at $1338.39 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.29% to 428.250, while USD/NGN rose 0.83% to 362.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 92.20.
