Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which rose 4.52% or 1.90 points to trade at 41.00 at the close. Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) added 2.11% or 30.95 points to end at 1495.00 and Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) was up 1.50% or 0.60 points to 40.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which lost 4.98% or 1.12 points to trade at 21.40 in late trade. Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL) declined 4.62% or 10.62 points to end at 219.38 and Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN) shed 4.11% or 0.32 points to 7.46.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 45 to 32 and 17 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.57% or 0.33 to $57.89 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.53% or 0.34 to hit $64.14 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.35% or 4.40 to trade at $1268.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.23% to 425.530, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 360.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 92.89.
