Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Insurance, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN), which rose 2.86% or 0.43 points to trade at 14.55 at the close. Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN) added 1.50% or 0.09 points to end at 6.09 and Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) was up 1.26% or 15.00 points to 1219.99 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which lost 5.00% or 2.20 points to trade at 41.80 in late trade. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) declined 4.39% or 1.14 points to end at 24.85 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) shed 2.42% or 0.55 points to 22.35.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 44 to 29 and 20 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.32% or 0.65 to $49.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.67% or 0.37 to hit $55.53 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.20% or 2.60 to trade at $1330.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.03% to 430.730, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 354.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 92.22.
