Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Insurance and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which rose 3.57% or 0.50 points to trade at 14.50 at the close. Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) added 3.12% or 0.020 points to end at 0.660 and Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) was up 3.09% or 0.30 points to 10.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR), which lost 6.11% or 0.55 points to trade at 8.45 in late trade. Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB) declined 2.91% or 3.00 points to end at 100.00 and Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) shed 2.08% or 2.00 points to 94.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 48 to 36 and 16 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 2.26% or 1.53 to $69.19 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.71% or 1.24 to hit $73.63 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.58% or 7.10 to trade at $1220.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.41% to 420.740, while USD/NGN fell 0.28% to 360.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 94.88.
