NickelSearch Ltd (ASX:NIS) has identified two new greenfield exploration targets and enhanced an existing target at its flagship Carlingup Nickel Sulphide Project at Ravensthorpe, Western Australia, that will be included in an upcoming extensive drill program scheduled to begin early next quarter.
The new high-priority targets, Sprint and Relay, as well as the upgraded John Ellis West target, were defined after a total of 2,715 assays for multi-element, ultra-fine soil results covering most of the wholly-owned tenement package and ground gravity survey results were received.
Substantial target portfolio
NickelSearch managing director Nicole Duncan said: "We are pleased to provide an update on greenfields exploration progress at Carlingup with the identification of new high priority targets to add to the already substantial target portfolio.
“The ongoing systematic exploration targeting work has identified new structural features that have important implications for greenfields exploration. We are looking forward to commencing our RC drill program shortly at Sexton and RAV8, followed by a significant greenfields exploration in Q4 2022.”
Standout targets
All three greenfields targets are in the Carling North Trend, a highly-prospective corridor with a strike extent of 6 kilometres characterised by Kambalda and Platinum Group Metals (PGM) responses which are indicative of komatiitic nickel sulphides at depth.
The John Ellis West target has a strong coincident Kambalda ratio, nickel-chromium and PGM geochemical soil anomaly and is flanked by two northwest-trending gravity linear features.
Sprint target has a very strong discrete Kambalda ratio, nickel-chromium and PGM geochemical soil anomaly and is completely untested by previous exploration.
Relay target has a strong nickel-chromium and modest Kambalda ratio and PGM geochemical soil anomaly, and like the Sprint target, appears to form within a northwest-trending gravity structural corridor.

Next steps
NickelSearch plans to commence drilling at Sexton to test for a strong Kambalda ratio and PGM geochemical anomaly located east of the historical massive sulphide, with a drill intersection of 2 metres at 1.2% nickel and 0.2% copper, and at RAV8 to test two separate DHEM conductor plates at the potential down plunge extensions.
A regional geological mapping program is being planned across the project to improve targeting.
Program of Work applications are proceeding for priority target areas at Sexton, Javelin, B1 and Serendipity, where the company intends to drill in the coming months.
