NickelSearch Ltd (ASX:NIS) has set the reverse circulation drill spinning at the cornerstone Carlingup nickel sulphide camp near Ravensthorpe in WA.
The explorer will turn the soil on two high-priority nickel sulphide targets — B1 and Serendipity — as it follows up some promising geochemistry and geophysics work.
Depending on weather and regulatory approvals, the program will also include greenfield targets like Lipple and Wadley, as well as brownfield extensional drilling at the RAV8 target.
With an initial 2,000 metres and 12 holes on the cards, NickelSearch is eager to get stuck in and secure drill assays to deepen its understanding of Carlingup.
NickelSearch will focus the drill bit on B1 and Serendipity.
With the program now underway, NickelSearch managing director Nicole Duncan said the team was excited to drill test nickel mineralisation at Carlingyup.
“This is the first time NickelSearch has drilled at B1 and Serendipity!” she exclaimed.
Nine holes are planned for the B1 target, where NickelSearch hopes to confirm and extend the nickel mineralisation uncovered during historical exploration.
“Previous drilling intersected nickel sulphides at over 1% nickel, so we are keen to better understand the geology,” Duncan continued.
Meanwhile, three holes are drafted for the Serendipity prospect, where the drill rig will target areas of increased nickel based on assays from a recent ultrafine soil sampling program.
“At Serendipity, we are targeting the areas with exceptionally high nickel and chrome in the results of the soil sampling,” the MD concluded.
Further drilling at both targets will be based on logging, assays and downhole electromagnetic surveys, which will be completed on select holes.
NickelSearch will keep the market posted on its findings and next steps at Carlingup.
