NickelSearch Ltd (ASX:NIS) has intercepted nickel sulphides during maiden drilling at high-priority target B1, extending the mineralisation at the Carlingup Nickel Sulphide Project near Ravensthorpe in Western Australia.
The company’s initial reverse circulation (RC) drilling at B1 has confirmed and extended the area of known historical nickel sulphide intercepts with the logging of sulphidic komatiites and cumulate ultramafics.
Assay results for the seven holes for a total of 1,108 metres are pending.
Long section of the NIS and historical drilling at B1 high priority target.
B1 is now the second regional prospect at Carlingup, after Sexton, to deliver nickel sulphide intersections that warrant immediate follow-up.
To date, the company has established a resource at Carlingup of 11.6 million tonnes at 0.56% nickel for 65,000 tonnes of contained nickel.
Historically, intercepts at B1 have included 9.1 metres at 0.7% nickel and 0.1% copper from 19.8 metres; 4.6 metres at 0.8% nickel and 0.1% copper from 35 metres; and 7.0 metres at 1.0% nickel and 0.09% copper from 157.0 metres.
Drilling at Serendipity
Separately, three new holes were drilled for a total of 456 metres at the Serendipity target to test ultrafine soil sampling anomalies.
Drilling hit very thick intervals of nickel host rock and will be followed up using downhole electromagnetics (DHEM) to identify off-hole conductors for nickel sulphides.
Samples from here have also been sent to the laboratory for assay.
Diamond drilling next
NickelSearch managing director Nicole Duncan said: “We have intersected visual nickel sulphide mineralisation and expanded the extent of the nickel mineralisation at B1.
“The historical drilling intersected nickel sulphides at over 1% nickel, so we are happy to be improving our understanding of the geology and architecture.
“We know we are in the right setting for nickel sulphides and are keen to follow up with diamond drilling in early June.
“These are fantastic results for NickelSearch’s maiden drilling at B1 and Serendipity!”

Coming up
NickelSearch’s RC drilling program also included a recently developed RAV8 South target, identified from historical geochemical test results, which the company will now undertake DHEM to target new massive sulphide pods.
The RC rig is now drilling a pre-collar at RAV8 South and will move to Sexton next to drill two pre-collars, prior to diamond drilling that will commence early next month.
The planned diamond hole at RAV8 South will test for down plunge extensions to the deposit, while at Sexton, diamond drilling will follow up on DHEM surveys showing massive sulphides
