NickelSearch Ltd (ASX:NIS) has actioned a board succession plan following the retirement of David Royle and resignation of Donald James.
As a result, NIS tapped Mark Connelly and Lynda Burnett as incoming independent non-executive chair and non-executive director respectively, effective April 3, 2023.
Leadership and nickel exploration expertise
“I am excited that NickelSearch has been able to attract board members of the calibre of Mark and Lynda,” NickelSearch managing director Nicole Duncan said.
“Mark brings experience in the capital markets and Lynda brings experience in nickel and exploration, which is a powerful combination.
“I am looking forward to working with them, with Norm Taylor and Paul Bennett, in delivering value to our shareholders.”
Connelly brings direct operational and capital markets experience in Australia, the Americas, Africa and Europe, having already held the position of company chair in an exchange-listed company.
He was appointed chair following a thorough search process, succeeding David Royle who expressed his desire to retire at the end of 2022.
Burnett is a geologist with more than 30 years of experience in the mining industry who currently holds a non-executive director position on the board of Regis Resources Limited and acts as a Member of the Australian Government’s Advisory Panel for Critical Minerals
Well-deserved retirement
“On behalf of everyone involved in NickelSearch, I thank Dave and Donald for their support,” Duncan continued.
“As the company has evolved, Dave has worn many hats, including executive, technical and non-executive positions.
“Dave helped to steer the company through its IPO and presided over the initial Carlingup drilling campaigns.
“After dedicating so much to NickelSearch over the last 14 years, it is understandable and justly deserved that Dave will now focus on his various consulting roles as well as leisurely pursuits.
“Both Dave and Donald have been generous with their time and vast industry experience, and Donald’s perspective as an executive within mining and mining services has been a valuable reminder of the high standards to which the industry holds itself.
“We wish them both very well.”
