NextSource Materials Inc. (TSX:NEXT, OTCQB:NSRCF) announced natural resources veteran Hanré Rossouw as its new president and CEO.
Rossouw has over 25 years of experience in the global natural resources sector and joins NextSource from Sasol Limited, where he served as CFO and Executive Director.
Craig Scherba, who previously held the CEO role, will remain with the company as Chief Development Officer and a board member. Scherba’s new position will center on strategic planning, expanding offtake agreements, and growing partnerships with global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
The transition comes as NextSource begins shipping SuperFlake graphite concentrate to customers in the US and Europe, marking its first revenue from commercial sales. The company is accelerating its development plans with a focus on battery anode facilities (BAF) and aims to establish facilities globally to supply key materials to major electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers.
Sir Mick Davis, chairman of NextSource, welcomed Rossouw to the CEO role. “The company is beginning to deliver on its potential to become a meaningful graphite producer serving global customers. I am confident that the expanded management team under Hanré's leadership have the capabilities to capitalise on the many downstream opportunities in the graphite supply chain,” Davis said in a statement.
Rossouw’s initial objectives include ramping up Molo’s production and advancing NextSource’s BAF network, which will position Madagascar as a significant contributor to the sustainable energy transition. His first week includes a site visit to the Molo graphite mine in Madagascar, where he will also engage with local communities and government officials as part of a leadership transition.
"I am delighted to lead the company during the next phase of its growth strategy,” said Rossouw.
“NextSource can elevate Madagascar to be an important participant in the global sustainable energy transition which is why I am here meeting with the workforce, senior leadership, host government and local community on the first day of my tenure. We will continue to collaborate closely with all our strategic partners to capture the benefits of our shared aspiration."
