Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Healthcare and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.95%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were NN Group NV (AS:NN), which rose 0.56% or 0.18 points to trade at 32.13 at the close. Heineken (AS:HEIN) added 0.53% or 0.47 points to end at 88.36 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) was up 0.47% or 0.37 points to 78.32 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which lost 3.07% or 0.565 points to trade at 17.835 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 2.93% or 2.130 points to end at 70.660 and SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO) shed 2.32% or 0.33 points to 13.67.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 73 to 53 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 12.51% to 11.99.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 2.61% or 1.16 to $43.27 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 2.30% or 1.08 to hit $45.83 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.08% or 1.05 to trade at $1245.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.21% to 1.1126, while EUR/GBP rose 0.72% to 0.8814.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 97.46.
