Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd), which rose 1.63% or 0.30 points to trade at 18.98 at the close. SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) added 1.30% or 0.16 points to end at 12.43 and Randstad (AS:RAND) was up 0.97% or 0.41 points to 42.78 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ASML Holding (AS:ASML), which lost 3.71% or 3.57 points to trade at 92.66 in late trade. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) declined 2.12% or 0.47 points to end at 21.52 and Philips Kon (AS:PHG) shed 1.94% or 0.51 points to 25.82.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 95 to 62 and 15 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 19.21% to 12.94 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 3.78% or 1.72 to $47.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 3.56% or 1.71 to hit $49.69 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.64% or 8.65 to trade at $1340.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.1250, while EUR/GBP rose 0.42% to 0.8461.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 95.08.
