Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Telecoms and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ING Groep NV (AS:ING), which rose 2.28% or 0.255 points to trade at 11.435 at the close. Aegon (AS:AEGN) added 2.17% or 0.114 points to end at 5.359 and Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN) was up 1.55% or 0.56 points to 37.12 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 5.07% or 0.27 points to trade at 5.06 in late trade. Ahold Kon (AS:AHLN) declined 3.88% or 0.77 points to end at 19.06 and Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) shed 3.23% or 1.16 points to 34.78.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 100 to 60 and 15 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 3.40% to 18.55.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.91% or 0.40 to $43.78 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 1.16% or 0.53 to hit $45.27 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.18% or 2.30 to trade at $1252.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.02% to 1.1298, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.7887.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 94.53.
