Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 0.65% or 0.440 points to trade at 68.650 at the close. Aalberts Industries (AS:AALB) added 0.29% or 0.10 points to end at 34.56 and Unilever NV (AS:UNc) was up 0.07% or 0.03 points to 44.59 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 1.83% or 0.154 points to trade at 8.255 in late trade. SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) declined 1.57% or 0.23 points to end at 14.78 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) shed 1.54% or 0.95 points to 60.78.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 82 to 46 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 1.96% to 14.07.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.36% or 0.19 to $53.14 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $55.88 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.06% or 0.75 to trade at $1227.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.32% to 1.0587, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.8653.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 101.66.
