Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Philips Kon (AS:PHG), which rose 0.61% or 0.17 points to trade at 28.96 at the close. Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) added 0.51% or 0.30 points to end at 59.29 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) was up 0.19% or 0.030 points to 15.950 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 2.39% or 0.175 points to trade at 7.134 in late trade. Gemalto (AS:GTO) declined 1.44% or 0.80 points to end at 54.57 and Randstad (AS:RAND) shed 1.41% or 0.74 points to 51.72.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 49 and 17 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.97% to 13.70.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.07% or 0.56 to $53.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.18% or 0.64 to hit $55.10 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.20% or 2.25 to trade at $1130.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.0446, while EUR/GBP rose 0.65% to 0.8494.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 103.01.
