Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 2.53% or 1.670 points to trade at 67.720 at the close. ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) added 0.87% or 1.00 points to end at 115.30 and Aalberts Industries NV (AS:AALB) was up 0.85% or 0.29 points to 35.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO), which lost 2.28% or 0.33 points to trade at 14.13 in late trade. Koninklijke Boskalis Westminster NV (AS:BOSN) declined 1.55% or 0.45 points to end at 28.64 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) shed 1.30% or 0.73 points to 55.29.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 67 to 51 and 14 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.06% to 12.96.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 3.46% or 1.63 to $45.44 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 2.92% or 1.45 to hit $48.16 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.35% or 4.28 to trade at $1223.48 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.1334, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.8774.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 96.10.
