Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Consumer Services and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Philips Kon (AS:PHG), which rose 1.59% or 0.43 points to trade at 27.52 at the close. ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) added 1.54% or 0.30 points to end at 19.83 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) was up 1.38% or 0.173 points to 12.693 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO), which lost 2.77% or 0.37 points to trade at 13.01 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) declined 1.52% or 0.355 points to end at 23.030 and Vopak (AS:VOPA) shed 1.17% or 0.51 points to 43.26.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 94 to 75 and 16 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 1.58% to 19.50.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 3.87% or 1.82 to $45.26 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 3.64% or 1.79 to hit $47.42 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.40% or 4.80 to trade at $1186.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.0625, while EUR/GBP fell 0.53% to 0.8506.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 101.16.
