Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Industrials and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 8.30% or 5.200 points to trade at 67.830 at the close. Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) added 5.30% or 0.257 points to end at 5.106 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was up 0.92% or 0.18 points to 19.83 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO), which lost 3.63% or 0.55 points to trade at 14.46 in late trade. Randstad Holding NV (AS:RAND) declined 2.11% or 1.07 points to end at 49.67 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) shed 1.79% or 0.80 points to 43.63.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 90 to 30 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 19.97% to 14.51 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.81% or 0.40 to $49.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.36% or 0.19 to hit $52.51 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.91% or 11.63 to trade at $1290.93 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1757, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.9057.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 93.36.
