Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Healthcare and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO), which rose 2.49% or 0.36 points to trade at 15.01 at the close. ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) added 0.44% or 0.11 points to end at 24.96 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) was up 0.25% or 0.11 points to 44.43 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 5.16% or 1.07 points to trade at 19.65 in late trade. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) declined 3.16% or 0.56 points to end at 17.14 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 1.86% or 1.190 points to 62.630.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 97 to 30 and 6 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 13.15% to 12.10.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.39% or 0.19 to $49.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.61% or 0.32 to hit $52.46 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 1.20% or 15.17 to trade at $1277.77 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.1742, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.9038.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 93.52.
