Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Services and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.71% or 3.300 points to trade at 92.260 at the close. ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) added 1.64% or 2.45 points to end at 151.80 and Randstad Holding NV (AS:RAND) was up 1.03% or 0.58 points to 56.64 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 2.17% or 0.20 points to trade at 9.00 in late trade. Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) declined 1.26% or 0.42 points to end at 33.00 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) shed 0.95% or 0.175 points to 18.255.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 60 to 54 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.22% to 9.40.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.58% or 0.37 to $64.67 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.43% or 0.30 to hit $70.17 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.46% or 6.10 to trade at $1341.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.62% to 1.2273, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8886.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.53% at 90.14.
