Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 1.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding (AS:ASML), which rose 2.35% or 2.03 points to trade at 88.39 at the close. Unilever NV (AS:UNc) added 2.19% or 0.90 points to end at 41.91 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) was up 2.05% or 1.13 points to 56.37 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Randstad (AS:RAND), which lost 1.53% or 0.56 points to trade at 36.16 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) declined 1.42% or 0.059 points to end at 4.091 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) shed 0.88% or 0.12 points to 13.48.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 134 to 37 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 9.57% to 22.99.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 2.17% or 1.08 to $48.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 2.32% or 1.19 to hit $50.13 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.59% or 7.85 to trade at $1319.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.49% to 1.1069, while EUR/GBP rose 0.69% to 0.8343.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.55% at 96.22.
