Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 1.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa), which rose 4.05% or 0.84 points to trade at 21.56 at the close. Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN) added 3.68% or 1.23 points to end at 34.55 and DSM Kon (AS:DSMN) was up 3.01% or 1.44 points to 49.34 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KPN Kon (AS:KPN), which lost 2.83% or 0.101 points to trade at 3.465 in late trade. Ahold Kon (AS:AHLN) declined 0.30% or 0.06 points to end at 20.08 and Unilever NV (AS:UNc) shed 0.15% or 0.06 points to 39.48.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 120 to 45 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 8.86% to 20.71.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 6.55% or 2.44 to $39.70 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 6.24% or 2.46 to hit $41.89 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.41% or 5.10 to trade at $1242.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.29% to 1.1411, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.8079.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 94.18.
