Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ING Groep NV (AS:ING), which rose 3.05% or 0.295 points to trade at 9.982 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 2.77% or 0.123 points to end at 4.571 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) was up 2.66% or 0.58 points to 22.61 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 2.93% or 0.40 points to trade at 13.23 in late trade. ASML Holding (AS:ASML) declined 1.04% or 0.88 points to end at 83.38 and Unilever NV (AS:UNc) shed 0.79% or 0.30 points to 38.15.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 114 to 42 and 17 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 5.20% to 34.36.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 2.81% or 1.30 to $47.51 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 3.16% or 1.49 to hit $48.68 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.48% or 6.25 to trade at $1292.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.38% to 1.1269, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.7873.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.41% at 94.38.
