Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 1.89% or 1.540 points to trade at 82.990 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 1.09% or 0.085 points to end at 7.858 and Aalberts Industries (AS:AALB) was up 0.77% or 0.27 points to 35.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which lost 1.65% or 0.33 points to trade at 19.61 in late trade. NN Group (AS:NN) declined 1.21% or 0.36 points to end at 29.77 and KPN Kon (AS:KPN) shed 0.99% or 0.028 points to 2.799.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 71 to 52 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.36% to 14.55.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 1.65% or 0.83 to $51.07 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.94% or 1.03 to hit $54.15 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.35% or 4.35 to trade at $1258.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.0666, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.8578.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 100.47.
